Yeah, I'm definitely going with the vent style. I especially like the one on the yellow PanSpeed 2nd gen.

As I said, a vent IS more practical, but they're both relatively cosmetic...

I'm leaning towards a vent though. Perhaps tweaking both hood and header panel to rework the parallel character lines a bit...

Someone has a shitty old targa 7 trashed out on the side of his house, and he has some homemade vents like the bmw on his hood and does it ever look sharp!!!
The things he has are actually just sloppy cut slits...but i think if it was finished...or rounded off and done right...like the bmw things...it could look great. But of course, theres those ricers that could recognise them...

A guy in my local club grafted one hood vent from a 280ZX over the air filter area on his GS. It looked sharp and didn't ruin the hood line.

was it the left one off a turbo (has a NACA duct) or the right one with just the slots, Lynn?

It's been awhile since I've seen that car. I think he went right side to right side. I've been looking to pick up a set and still haven't found a junker with them still intact.

There's a few of 'em in the yards here, but the one yard I know has one is down a washboard road that nearly rattles my ReX to pieces.

call me retarded or something but i think that trying a 'shaker' hood scoop on top (fiberglass) not the full functional one that has rubber skirt.. but one that functions and is adhesived to the hood, with small rectangular vents at the rear of the hood to let the hot air out..

I plan to use an Impreza scoop (as pictured above) mounted backwards as a vent to let hot air escape from under the bonnet. I think it will look pretty good too!

That's more what I had in mind, perhaps even changing the character lines on the hood to something more like that and tweaking the header panel to match...

if I can get fixed headlamps to cast a decent beam pattern it might be interesting to tweek the character lines slightly around that whole area.

Actually, I kinda liked your vent. Simplistic, yet functional. And it made it look a little more updated...

Had to have added 20 or so HP, eh?

i'm going to say 20.37583957 hp according to the butt dyno, lol. and its functional. funny thing though is its centered on the hood and to the fan but the air coming off the fan only blows out of 75% of it. nothing blocking airflow either. now thats some weird, wild stuff.

p'rhaps cause your vent is shallow and only picking air up from the top of the fan's radius of airflow, leaving small gaps on either side.

nope, its passengerside biased. the vent opening isn't very shallow. if you were to move it back any more you'll hit the alternator. foward much more and you won't pick up as much air. if you were crazy about it, you could go wrc style and create a carbon fiber piece that would connect between the fan shroud and vent making sure all the air is being funnelled out.

I have to say that i am partial to the tii scoop myself. I would love to have a fiber hood with the 2nd gen turbo scoop on it (centered of course). That is my opinion and im sticking to it!!
