Scooped/vented hood

what sort of scoop/vent style would you MOST like to see on an otherwise stock looking ReX hood?

(Note the MOST part - please don't post 10 pics of various styles, but rather your own personal favorite)

I like the scoops on the Subaru Impreza hoods. Mine has an intercooler right under it!

you put {img}http://www.theurloftheimage.com./nameofimage.jpg{/img} only use square brackets [ instead of { and obviously change the url and image name to match the actual location of the image on the web

well, I guess that didn't work quite right, you could copy and paste it into the address bar.

you have to add the / in the second {img} in order to 'close' the command.

like so hope that helps. Practice a few times in 1 post, editing the same one until you get it. It's actually pretty simple once you catch on, esp. as a dumbass ex army type like me can do it

What would be more popular do you think, an Impreza style scoop, or a vent like the one pictured above? The vent is more practical but let's face it, this is more of a cosmetic thing...

Me,, i like any type NACA style (vent) (scoope) just as
long as its flush with ( sits below ) the org. lines..
in other words,,,if looking at the car from the sides,
nothing sticks up over the org. body lines. the mariah
naca hood (vent) (scoope) looks ok..but i've always thought that a real naca doesn't have a break down the middle of it.. I like the idea of a vented hood..not to big,
put in a smart area where it would vent, and not worry about rain, or water messing up anything under the hood, or electrical wiring. IMO

We have gone over the Scoop Versus Vent thing.

Naca Ducts are great, Scoops on a 7 are not as efficient as we would think.

The top of the hood is in a vacuum at speed, so you would get no ram air effect, but rather a slight negative pressure effect which would reduce your performance at high speed. On the good side, you would get cooler air, which would give you better performance off the line. All in all, I would think that you would get just about the same performance with that NACA duct as you would if you just used a drop-in K&N filter with your stock intake system. The NACA duct would look cool, though.

BTW, you can get pre-made NACA ducts from most race parts suppliers.
I personally would prefer vents that pull HOT-AIR out of the engine compartment, rather than try to blow ambient air in, with nowhere to go, causing more resistance than necessary.

it's hard to see in the picture but this car has z3 louvers welded into the stock hood. it looks great from the outside but doesn't look so hot when you open the hood. i'm sure the body shop had a hell of a time putting them in though for the reason tim benton stated. i would just go with an aftermarket hood since it seems you'd be going through more trouble than the cost savings are worth. but if you want to make a unique hood that's be admirable too. good luck.

I want a Hood that will offer circulation in-and Out of the engine compartment. There is no point for Air to go "in" with No "out". That's why all FD's use the vents, to release the Hot Air inside the compartment. Also, "Ram AIR" is basically non existent in a street car.

By the way, here is Great Thread from the 2nd Gen Forum with lots of info.
