scoop

This is my most recent pic of the scoop. This week I hope to get the hood painted to match. Sure works great for getting fresh cooler air in to the camden! Tell me which you prefer, with or without the scoop.

I like the one in your avitar. how it only sticks out half way.
But the best is the one that works the best.

hey 84stock, mind dropping some info on the motor and carb your useing. i plan to go with a camden and a scoop like yours. i cant remember if you have a 12a or a 13b in there.i had the idea in my head before i new about you. but i was going to go with a black scoop to match my flat black paint.

the reason i ask about the carb is cause i know you have tried out a few different setup's and want to know what you went with. since iam still learning i figure id pick ur brain since you have al lready done what i want to do.

I run a racing beat header with a qtec electric cutout, 2 aftermarket presilencers (one long, one short) and single in dual out magnaflow all 2 1/2". The electric cutout helps the exhaust for racing while the rest keeps the exhaust tone of the bridgeport quite tolerable when it is closed. With the cutout open, the car is unbearably loud, but sure makes a difference on top end. I plan on dynoing the car in august just to demonstrate the difference the cutout makes.

What do you mean by electric cutout? Is that for closing the exhaust a bit, restricting flow? Sorry for the dumb question...

Sad thing is I had to enlarge the hole when I switched to the spacer and the demon, so I may not be going back. Other thing too is function, having the carb up and away from the charger really helpds keep it cooler.

i think it looks best the way it does now. cause it doesn't look half *** like you didn't realize blocking the lower half would effect it know what i mean? i meant that in a good way. if you want to hide it you could use some of that green fake plant foam to make a mold and make a fiber glass scoop to cover the top back and sides. that way you would only have to worry about water getting in from the front. but come on you know you want every one to see that scoop you paid for with you hard earn money.

Little recent misfortune is gonna delay hood painting etc..... I snapped a roll pin in my supercharger which caused the rotors to contact each other, what a sound! Repair will take some time. I will be able to resurface the rotors by hand and Andy at camden is going to modify my driven gear from the charger with a new more effective clamping system.

Perhaps for those interested I may post some internal camden pics as I complete the repair.

Ouch. At least it's repairable. I would be very interested in seeing pics of the process.

True! Andy at Atkins has been very very helpful. Many shops would say to ship the charger and bend me over for a full rebuild with a bunch of technical bullshit. I give Andy credit for his ethics!

I appreciate the opinion and will take it into consideration when I put the charger back on. If the hole isn't too big now, maybe I'll return to the subtle look and cut a recess in the hood in front of the scoop. What do you think?
