SCCA roll cage specs needed

Anyone know what the roll cage specs are? I want to compete in the SCCA club rally next year and am starting to build up my car.

Thanks,
Jesse

Go buy a GCR, you'll need it anyway. The specs are too long to write here. Beware, the roll cage specs are changing next year, at least for IT. I dont know about Rally though sorry. Just beware, it would suck to build a cage that is legal now and not legal next year.

Just make sure you use DOM tubing as they are removing the ERW tubing.

Autopower does make a cage that bolts to the floor, but I wouldn't trust my life with it. Get a custom weld in cage done. Thick wide metal plates that weld to the door frames, frame rails, and suspension pickups where allowed by the rules. I've seen those bolt in cages punch thru the floor when rolled! -bp-

I use the Autopower (as do all Spec RX-7 drivers in the DC region). I've seen two bad rollovers and several other bad accidents and the cages held up fine. The first incident was a car barrell rolling several times at ~90mph. The other was a car the rolled several times and came down HARD on the roof.

A well made custom cage probably offers more protection, but the Autopower seems to do ok.

NOOOOOO!!!!! I just had mine installed!

Any idea what the changes are besides dumping that stupid requirement to put FIA seatbacks on the cage?

Hey Evil, I think there is a thread in the Racecar Tech section of the forum. It has links in it to the info you may need.

Evil, if you get it logbooked now, it'll be grandfathered. Basically as has been said before ERW will be out, also nascar bars will be required. It's in a recent fast track.
