Saving for Winter Project, Thinking way ahead

Well as usual im thinking way, way ahead. I have a tendency to do so, but its not a problem. This winter im painting my car. Its an 84 -SE. It is currently the original red, but in poor condition. My dad suggested repainting it red and i figured if i go red itl be Velocity red like on the RX8. My dad suggested red because we wouldnt "have" to paint the engine bay. Now prior to his suggestion i wanted to paint it black. If i were to paint the car a nice glack, or gunmetal, would it be ok to leave the engine bay red? If i leave the engine bay red and paint the rest of the car should i paint the underside of the hood the same as the rest of the car? The inside of teh doors and hatch and sunroof and all will be painted the new color so im actaully going to do a good job. But i just cant pull the engine and everyhtig. Whats some opinions on either new colors, or paint which parts what color. Thanks for any help.

I once looked at buying a forest green SE. When I opened the hood, the engine bay was white. What a turn off. On the other hand, I've seen old Mercedes where no matter what the exterior color was, the engine bay is always flat black. It's very cool. I guess my opinion is that unless the engine bay is black and looks like it was meant to be that way, I'd paint it the same color as the rest of the car.

I had my engine bay painted without removing the engine. They took eveything off the firewall and wheel wells, removed all the radiator shrouding and the battery shelf and all that stuff. They took off the hood and painted. You'd never know the car used to be a different color.

My car is black and I love it that color, but is shows so many scratches and dirt so bad, I'm almost wishing I could paint it a different color.

So are you saying if the engine bay is black, it doesn't really matter what color the rest of the car is?

My paint is really faded and it needs to be repainted either way, but its probably better just to repaint it black right?

In my opinion, a black engine bay looks fine on a car with a different color. If your car is stock sparkling black, however, it might not work out as nicely as if it were flat or solid black, in my opinion.

So Basically to do this right imma need to take everything off the engine bay walls and paint it. If imma go all out on it, i might as well paint it a really nice color. now to find a nice , exotic color

One more thing, anyone know where some pics are with cars that have Designes on them. I was thinking of doing some sort of Stripe thing, not necesarily straight, but somethign to break the car up, because i may not put my trim back on

Black engine bay always looks nice. As mentioned earlier many factory cars come like that. Having any other color in the engine bay diffrent from the body is a big turnoff.

Yeah mine is the stock sparkling black, but I don't really think the engine bay has the same flake under the paint...Atleast it doesn't show up as much inside there.

I really hate it when people post pictures of their cars all over the board. But what the heck...
