Exclamation salvage yard to avoid!

I found a used 79 intake manifold for my rex- but I still don't have a good source for rx7 parts - drove over three hours to salvage yard- called ahead so they could pull part- got there to find that 'Spanky'(not kidding) the lot boy had gone to lunch and not gotten to it- while waiting- I noticed everything around the shop was raised on blocks, or wheel rims etc. Spanky came in with part and you couldnt see it under all the mud- it was explained to me that it was river mud- evidently the river isnt to kind to the salvage yard- 1500cars and nearly all are underwater when river overflows(like this year)- but they said they don't charge extra for the realestate , and she offered me a plastic bag to carry it in. LOL -Rangeline auto parts in Indiana

Gueeze. And environmentalists are attacking our cars!

I see you live in South Bend. Can you get lathe parts easiliy there? IE, is the area saturated with old South Bend machine shop parts and accessories?

Thanks! Ya know..... just this morning when I woke up I was thinking of driving from New Jersey to Michigan this weekend to see what the bone-yards had to offer. I'll be sure to avoid that one!

You think that's bad, I was pulling Fiesta parts from a junkyard here that had FIVE of them, including one with an ultra-rare A/C unit that I had pre-sold to a guy in the UK for $$. These rare cars had sat there for years until I recently started pulling parts off them. So what does the junkyard do? They CRUSH 4 of them, including the one with the A/C unit, and leave the most thrashed and picked-over one. What a bunch of morons.

On the plus side, 1st Gen. RX7s are pretty plentiful in the junkyards here, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

One thing I hate is when people who are getting parts from the junk yard aren't curteous towards future people who are getting parts from the same car...

Hoods left up, doors left open, windows left down... Wires cut, surrounding parts broken...

C'mon people, someone might want other parts ya know...

I always go around shutting hoods and doors and stuff... A lotta cars that are wrecked still have the previous owner's belongings in them, usually clothes and ****... I find an old t-shirt to use as a rag while I'm working, and when I'm done, I use it to cover intakes or stuff if I've removed carburetors, or some other such thing...

But yeah... Not too many RX-7's around here... Two Tornado Silver 1984 GS's in one yard, one Black 80 LS in another and a repainted silver 1983 GSL in another...

All decently picked over.
