Exclamation safety issues, need help

hey Guys and thanks for checkin in!!1

I really need help here, suggestions, any thoughts!!!!!!!

I have a 85 rex and my wipers no longer work!!!

It got to the point were me helping them along wasn't working either???!!!!
They should move, RIGHT?????.................maybe the rods are binding up on the drivers side, but even a crack head could get his arm back under there!!!!!!!!

Has anyone with any First Gen. experience these symptom's

I got a replacement motor today at the wreckers ($45) and although the spark is making it to the motor It's not turning the arms/rods one bit!!!

Could it be My altenator isn't kickin out enough juice!?????

I'm gonna get my old wiper motor check and should get the alt. check as well

Check this MAZDA wants $380 (cdn)and change for a new Wiper Motor!!!!!

Its most likely that the bushings in the rack are frozen. If you remove the whole assembly, clean it and get some lubrication in there (some spray lube) and then work it back and forth "helping it as you put it" then it should free up. You might be able to get away with just removing the cowl and spray lubing all the pivots. But if not, then you would have to remove it and get it clean and lubed. I had the same problem and thats how I fixed it.

Did the arms turn when you had the motor off? If not then take the whole linkage out, and you should see what the problem is. You might need to disassemble and clean the rotating pins. Pack them with grease and reassemble. Be careful with the plastic ball and socket joints they are fragile.

You're not wrong. They practically fall apart if you even look at them the wrong way. Same with the headlight linkages.

Yeah.. My wipers did that... I found out when it was raining.

Remove the cowl and maneuver the entire assembly out of there... Soak every pivot point in WD-40 or penetrant. Work it back and forth by hand.

The only hard parts about the wipers are maneuvering the rack out of the cowl and putting the rubber water protector back on the motor after it's all dry rotten.

Oh and remove the neg bat cable when you do this. I damn near chopped off some fingers when I plugged the thing back in. It went back to park while my hand was in there.

Trying to make the wipers work while one hand was jammed in the linkage wasnt fun. I think I left the key on or something maybe. Just be careful. My hand hurt for a week.

Thanks for the help Guys

Ran out of light, and called it a day, tommorrow will try working the linkage with some penetrating Lube!
At least at the wreckers I grabbed myself a mint passengers seat, No tears and same Burgandy Leather, My girl will feel so loved when i lay that in!!!!!(no lube needed there) the old seat was torn real bad worse then the drivers side!!!!
so even if The wiper motor wasn't needed I did come out with somthing!!!

not to be a smart *** but I recomend buying a cheap voltmeter, that way you can tell if the motor was getting enough juice, and even if the switch or relay was getting power. You can really save alot of time, money and pain from chopped up fingers just by knowing basic wiring.Voltmeters also require no sweat! You would have hated to remove all the linkage to just find out a fuse was blown, right?
