Question sa22c 1980 12a turbo

hellow everyone i just finished rebuilding my 12 a sa22c aneversry x edition 1980 12a sa22c rx-7 and i was looking around and i am thinking about throwing on a turbo on the beast i only found one web site that had any ideas about it so far, i am an excellent welder (about 3 years and certified and worked in a steel factory for about 6 months) i was wondering if thier is any kits out their to put a turbo on it of what my car has a thermal reactor but i am planning on making my own exhaust pipe and taking that pos reactor off because it is 1980 i dont need to meet the emmisions standerd of 1985 and even than my state doesnt have an emmisions test to regestir just a safty check (utah) or would i have to weld some contraption / converter to get a turbo to fit on i would be happy with any turbo just couris much appreaciation to all!!!!

The double poster is right, try the advanced search function and limit it to 1st gen. this is the greatest amount of info on turboing your 12a. Good luck with your project many of us on here already know the thrill of driving a 12a turbo and its a blast.

There are no pre fab kits for a turbo first gen in production today. But your project is easily accomplished by putting together a kit on your own.

There is a write-up in the 1st gen. archive. Also, your going to want to talk to 680RWHP12A (rotaryshack.com) and FB II. There are also many others who can assist you in this project. Good luck!
