Question SA stereo help

I’m at work, thinking about installing my Kenwood cd player in my 1980 LS tonight. But I can’t find any good write-ups on an install for an SA. It currently has an aftermarket Kenwood tape deck.

Does anyone know what parts I’m going to need to accomplish this? New wire harness, ECT…

Thanks
Chris

should be really strait forward if it already has a aftermarket head unit.
you should just be able to pop the old one out and the new one in.
wire the speakers with the purple grey green and white and then you have your ground,(black) power, (yellow) and acc (red).
you should need no new parts if you already have a mounting kit for a aftermarket head unit.

I had to do my own splicing for the wiring because Crutchfield didn't have a connector/harness for my '79. Not difficult though.

it pulls off then there is a nut behind it that holds the control to the surround piece.

Oh no second page back out of the abyss

After an hour cutting the dash for the CD player the wire harness didn’t work so I’m going have to do sum splicing today . Alright I know what ones are speaker wires from a previous post but there is solid color and one with the same color but with a gray stripe. Is the one with a gray stripe the negative? Also what about the red, yellow and there might be one more? I will have to check it after school and let you guys know unless you already do.

if all your running is a cd player and 4 speakers you only need 7 wires.
4 speaker acc, +, and - . take a electric tester or bulb to find out which wires are which.
turn the key to acc and make sure it lights up but then goes off when you turn the key off.
+ should have power always.
the ground may just be a short wire screwed into the dash shifter area behind the ash tray.
