SA Rear Bumper End question

SA Rear Bumper End question
So, are there two different types?
I have always thought they all looked like this:
But I recently ran across one that looks like this:
The difference I'm talking is the location of the mounting bolts.
So is the difference 79 vs 80
or OEM vs aftermarket?
Whats the deal?
I need a set of the second type to go on some fiberglass bumpers I recently acquired and need to know what to look for.

the second pic, you can see the part number 8562-50-033? and looking through my 1997 price book, its not in there, so i'm going to say its a JDM part.
we don't yet have the parts book for the 79-82 Rx7's for the Japanese market. the Japanese models had different bumpers, or at least different bits under the bumper

Could be JDM, the bumpers were not as heavy or strong as the USDM bumpers had to be. So
maybe they are made differently on the ends.
I've heard of folks getting JDM bumpers installed to lower the weight while still adhering to some
class rules in racing.

That explains it then, and it makes sense. The fiberglass bumpers I have originally came from Japan, so my only alternative is to either use the end pieces that came on them, which look to bad to use, or modify the bumpers so I can use US end pieces.
Thanks for the information,
I plan to do a write up on the installation of these bumpers. They will look oem when installed and save tons of weight.

i notice that the JDM guys tend to put the FB bumper on the SA, but they like the SA rear bumper on everything. i'm thinking they must want a little weight in the rear

In this case however, not a stupid question or stupid person asking the question. My response - maybe not so much.
I did learn something today from this thread too! I wondered why fiberglass bumpers were ever produced and just thought it was because of some mid-80s racing aftermarket application. Didn't know about the JDM...

I swapped out my SA bumpers for FB bumpers to save weight when I was trying to make the car lighter for auto-x. I think the SA bumper are 35 lbs. each without the bumper bracket , after using a hole saw on the FB bumpers I got them down to 12 lbs. each with the full plastic cover on them.

the JDM cars don't have the shocks in the bumper support, its just a simple bracket, which also has to be lighter.
and the JDM SA's also don't have the door bars
