S5 w/streetport HP?

Does anyone have HP numbers for a streetported S5? I'm thinking of picking one up and bolting up my Dellorto on it. Just looking for a ball park figure.

Thanks, Ed

just guessing here...

S5 6port, streetported, N/A rotors (High compression), carbed = 205-215 flywheel

Everything the same as above except 4 port = 220-230 flywheel

why would a street ported 6 port have less horsepower than a 4 port? doesn't make sense if u don't use the sleeves... u can get some massive port opening on the 6 ports...

i was just wondering about that myself before i got on the forum. what does everyone go with S4 engines instead of S5? the S5 has more power stock and is said to be able to rev higher safely. is there something im missing?

S4 cores are easier to find.

The six port engines have a factory fuel injection setup that can be used so you don't have to spent a few grand on an aftermarket injection system.

4 port cores have more port-able area. The 6-port cores don't have as much area, so they can't be ported as much. In the end, IIRC, the 4-port can flow more. S5 internals and 4-port ends are the way to go.

That's about what I've got, and I'm really hopeing for 180whp.

It'll be dyno'd this summer. Yall think 180 sounds reasonable?

180whp sounds about right, if not you can get more. Only one way to find out though

That's all fine and dandy if you are content with your engine breathing through a 5 sq. in . area spring loaded door blocking your airflow. Of course this factory fuel injection system will always be the single biggest thing keeping power down. Aftermarket fuel injection is ALWAYS better than the stock RX-7 system. I have one. It started the very first time I tried it and it is very easy to tune. No dyno needed. It wasn't expensive either. I've got about $200 into my standalone system. A "few grand" is a myth. This guy wants to use his Dellorto carb system. That should be quite nice too and easily do over 200 hp.

Megasquirt. Simple to build and even easier to program. Also not hard to set up to run ignition. If anyone wants to try one, I'll gladly help them. For the price and performance, I can't believe I waited this long to try it. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a dyno to tune it. People have been tuning carbs for years without dynos and getting great results. I can actually see where my settings are in real time and make the appropriate changes where they need to be. It's a great tool. The best thing is that you don't need an air flow meter anymore. If people want to stay simple and learn gradually, they can leave the stock ecu installed to control ignition and only hook the Megasquirt up as a fuel only system. This is still far better than an S-AFC. If you can fix your own car, you can get one of these working.

Here's the website:

There's also a forum. A few members on this board use this and are also on their forum:

I personally would love to try the whole megasquirt thing, I believe being able to control my timing as well as fuel and getting rid of the damn afm is whats holding my car back.

What I am most worried about is setting it up as well as tuning it.

Yeah sorry about the threadjack! I think your Dellorto carb system would be very nice on that engine. My best friend has a Weber setup on a 6 port and it is a damn fun car. Strangely enough though his car is all low end and lacking up tp. He did buy it used and we have never played with the jetting. It should definitely have more power potential left in it on the top end. You should be able to top 200 with a streetport pretty easily.
