s5 12a problem

well i just got my manifold back from the machine shop. it looks great and fits perfect. the problem is however that the turbo housings hit the intake manifold so it wont go on all the way. i tried grinding it some but it will just look like crap and i dont think i can even grind off enough. so i need to either extend the turbo out some more. or get a new carb and intake , something like a weber or holley that has a simple intake that doesnt come out so far. Does anyone have a used carb and intake they wanna sell me?

If you can find one, you can get the intake manifold off a 12a Turbo, it is a lot thinner and eaisly clears the TII turbo.

No, just grind the exhaust paths and the bolt holes on the TII manifold inward to fit the 12a, works fine.

can the 13b n/a manifold fit onto a 12a and if so is it better than the stock manifold....cuz if i can grind the ports and bolt holes on a 13b Racing Beat header it would be better air flow than the 12a Racing Beat header wouldn't it?

No, why would it flow better? They use the same size pipe for both of them. It probably wouldn't even work with a header, since they don't have the extra metal on them that the stock manifolds do.

Also, turbo's don't use headers, headers are for N/A only.

Some kind of do look like headers, but they call them turbo manifolds.

to get it to fit all you need is the flange from a header kit to use as a spacer and another gasket. go to the racing beat site or the mazdatrix site to get them. you may need to get the exhuast studs replaced with longer ones if not long anuff.

for a blow through on a 12a i'd go with a weber dcoe side-draft carb......i hear the wrap around manifold works well with the t2 turbo and manifold.........plus i think there's a bunch of carb hats out for webers....old vw crowd is big on those webers..lol
