I would love to see the wiring thread, as I am about to tackle the same set up myself. Working nights after 10+ hour days. I need all the help I can get.

Hey Steve got another question if you dont mind. 3J requires a consistant 12v off of the battery that doesnt go through any fuses, can i tap right into the fuse box and pull power off of a consistant power source? Or should i pull of of the last spot of the underhood fuse block labeled either BNT.

Really?
I wasnt aware of a constant 12V source on the S4 ECU.
Since it doesnt store trouble codes in memory, and its a metered air EFI system,it seems un-neccesary.But if thats what it says, then Id just run it off the back of the fuseblock or just put a little 5AMP fuse inline on that wires and run it off the battery or something.I never had a constant 12V on my old S4 setup and it never had any problems.
The "3" in code 3J implies that the wire is part of the big right side harness,so it must have run up to one of the now unused under-dash plugs on the harness. Its no wonder I didnt know about that wire,I only ran my main relay primary power wires up to those plugs,I didnt utilize any of the other wires on the big clear dashboard plugs.I have all my books and FSM's packed up for my move, but I wont be settled into the new place for a few more weeks, at least.

Got my wires off on Thursday!
Its nice to eat again, and it seems that everthing healed right.I go in tommorow to get the bridge bars taken off, which is the worst part since my gums have grown around the retaining wires and it hurts like a bitch when I eat.Once they are gone, and my gums heal,I should be good to go.My chin is still a little wooden feeling, but feeling anything is a good thing and my teeth are still 90% as straight as they were before the accident.Doc says they can take the plate out later if it becomes an issue,so Ill just have to wait and see what happens.

Good link,Ill have to print that out since the ECU pinout pages are similar to the S5 FSM's.I never got around to buying an S4 FSM,I just went by the pain in the *** wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual when I did my S4 swap.I was a little worried that the poster said the floor heat switch,5th gear switch, ect were useless and they arent needed for smog. The floor heat switch is a vital safety device considering the temps of our exhaust and the tendancy for our engines to eat cats.If the cat gets too hot,and the sensor isnt there, the ECU wont know to shut off the port/split air injection and the cat will get hotter and hotter until your cat is a weanie roast. And the 5th gear switch is needed to activate split air only when in 5th gear, when there is adequate airflow under the car to keep the cats at a safe temp.

Yea.....metal out-food in!
Gotta love it.Even a humble donut, was a blessing to eat this morning!

I got questions again bc im not getting any gas, on the wiring diagram on the Ignition switch 1 power source it has the number 1 where the wire goes to it like on page 33 (50-36) and then next to it it has circle with a 1 also, is Ignition 1 a ground also? i also wire the fuel pump relay to the starter switch when turning on the key im going to change that too.
