RX7 Idler Arm Recall help
Would they still make this repair since part is stock?
Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):

MAZDA / GLC 1977-1983
MAZDA / RX7 1979-1983

Summary:
IN CERTAIN HIGH SALT AREAS, THE IDLER ARM IS EXPOSED TO ROAD SALT WHICH CAUSES THE DUST SEAL TO DETERIORATE RESULTING IN IDLER ARM PIN CORROSION. THIS CAUSES THE PIN TO FREEZE AND BREAK. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: A BROKEN IDLER ARM PIN COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
Consequence:
There is no summary currently available
Remedy:
REPLACE PIN WITH ONE OF IMPROVED CORROSION RESISTANT QUALITY.
Notes:

I found the answer already.
From the NHTSA:
Are there any limitations on my right to have a recalled vehicle remedied at no charge?
Yes. There is a limitation based on the age of the vehicle. In order to be eligible for a free remedy, the vehicle cannot be more than 10 years old on the date the defect or noncompliance is determined. Under the law, the age of the vehicle is calculated from the date of sale to the first purchaser. For example, if a defect is found in 2003 and a recall ordered, manufacturers are required to make the correction available at no charge only for vehicles purchased new in 1994 through 2003. However, consumers should realize that even though manufacturers are not obligated to remedy safety defects in older cars, a safety problem might still exist. If you receive notification of a defect on a vehicle older than 10 years, take the responsibility to have your car repaired at your own expense – and eliminate unnecessary safety risks.

the next step is to call mazda with the vin number, then they can tell you
1. if the recall applies to your car
2. is still open
3. hasn't already been done.
if you meet those 3, then you can go to the dealership of your choice and they will do it

I think J9 works at a mazda dealership, so maybe he knows the mazda policy better than most.
+1 on the moog arm. Get it from rockauto for a good price, its a better replacement and will
last forever.

Ya, I think trying to cashin on a 30 year old recall would be just beating a dead horse.
I hear they have their hands full with spiders inside gas tanks of some of their new models.
