Rx7 Drive shafts

Hello Folks,
I have a friend who has an auto 85 Rx7, with a bad drive shaft.
Will a drive shaft from a stick work for the auto car?
Would a GSL-SE drive shaft work?
Any thoughts?

Thanks

The auto driveshaft is quite a bit shorter. No manual driveshaft would work. I have a good one in my garage, but he would probably be better off taking his to a driveshaft shop and having the U-joints replaced...

The automatic driveshaft is quite a bit shorter than the manual ones. I have a good auto driveshaft sitting in my garage, but he would probably be better off just taking his to a good driveshaft shop and have them replace the U-joints.

For any consolation, if it was a '83-earlier automatic car a manual shaft would work.

The difference is the '84-up had 4 speed autos, which were longer because the 4 speed is just a 3 speed with an overdrive unit sandwiched between the bellhousing and the rest of the trans. Added length means shorter driveshaft.
