yes ceramic coating would help alot but its not cheap to do, and these guys are usally on a tight budget...
usally i reccomend getting a $30.00 header blanket and installing between the intake and exhaust

Is this less of an issue with a sidedraft carb?

its way less of an issue , as well as the sidedraft carbs make more power.. also the long wraparound manifold increases the torque band alot too

FWIW the JetHot 2000 ceramic coating on my header cost $ 300 w/shipping. Not cheap but...well.. worth it. Not in everyone's budget though.

owwaahh ... $300 is almost what coldy13 spent on his whole turbo kit!!!
