rpms help, 84 GS

I have owned this car for a month, had to replace a leaking acc. pump. also replaced shutter valve, dist.cap and wires. Its idling great and running better than when I purchased it. Now there is problem with the rpms staying at 1500 when stopped. It will sometimes drop to correct idlying aftter 10 to 20 seconds, other times i have to tap the gas pedal to get it to drop. Dont know what to check or adjust, Any susggestions would be apprreciated .Thanks

I had a similar problem. It turned out that my carb linkage was all gum'd up. It took me a few days of spaying the **** out if it with carb cleaner to clean it all out. When it was all clean I sprayed the linkage with WD-40. As maintenance I give the linkage a shot of WD-40 every now and then.

Also, check you dash pot for proper operation. Maybe it's not working right and it's keeping the butterfly open too long.
