rpm limit-problem
Hello,
I own a completely stock 85 gsl-se with 83k miles. recently, the idle was not an idle but an 'up and down and die' if you know what i mean. it also had another annoying problem, that is it would, under load, not accelerate past 5000 and the engine's noise would change. i haven't tried to go over 5000 since it first happened b/c the engine noise sounded damaging/bad
yesterday a mechanic replaced two of the intake manifold gaskets and cleaned everythign in the fuel system, the filter, injectors, and tuned it up and everything. so now it purrs at 700 rpm steady.
but i still can't accelerate past 5k rpm. the car has no aftermarket ignition, no stock rpm limiter and under no load(clutch disengaged) i can rev as high as i'd like to.
whew.. i think i covered everything. any ideas?
Thanks
woodman
ps if you recall i asked about this before but this is sort of a new magnitude of a problem because the mechanic fixed everything that was suggested in my last thread about this.
