Rpg Dash
Lol, I believe he means RPM gauge. I am just messin with you
Welcome to the club.
These gauges tend to go hay-wire generally when the trailing igniter goes out. My old 79 used to do that. Check to see if you have trailing spark by:
Disengaging the Fuel Pump (from the fuse box)
Pulling the T1 or T2 Sparkplug
Spinning the engine over, look for spark.
Let us know how that goes.

Ok im having a bad night it appears any ways YES the RPM gauge there I go good boy good boy, ok well if it is the trailing igniter then can I still drive on it or will my car die like tonight cause I still have to drive 70 miles back home from work umm and is the leading trailing igniter one of the coil packs or is it in the disbuter

Your car will run with no problem. If you had the later 84-85 models the ignitor failing would take out the fuel pump circuit and the engine would not run.
Also check to make sure the wires are not loose at the ignitor.
The leading ignitor is also attached to the distributor as is the trailing one. The trailing is the one closest to the alternator.
It may also be a failing tachometer.

I checked for spark on T1 and L1 and they both have spark, however when I opened my hood today the battery moved back to were the wires stopped it, also this problem did start after I made a sharp turn real fast so I probably just losen a wire I think and thats when my RPG, I mean "RPM" gauge went out of control.
But Im abit confused about the trailing igniter are these two igniter bolted around the distributer? if so I can get these parts at the salvage yard.

Glad to help. You gotta show a little humor around here to get far. If you got any other questions then ask. Plenty of us to go around.
Take care now
