Question rotor Question

i need some help with my engine. i bought it with a blown rear rotor. IE no compression. i tore it down and found 2 apex seals missing and the 3rd in the exhaust port. 3 crack corner seals 1 gone and 2 side seals missing. the rotor is shot and so is the housing. i found a rotor out of a 86 non turbo 13b. will it fit in my engine? as far as i know the only differences in my engine and the 13b in the 86 is i haev 4 ports and they have 6. plz help

ok what 4 port you have a 4 port convertion or a ealy 4 port engine out of a rx3-4 or cosmo. and you cant just replace 1 rotor out of another engine if you going to get both because all rotors have different weight and compression.

Rotor weight and compression will be different and u can't use rotor housings after '85. The "O" ring grooves were moved from the rotor housings to the steel housings from '86 on. U could use the internals from a '90 engine, they have the lightest and highest compression of all rotors. Check out Felix's Toolbox, there's some interesting reading there. There's info on what will interchange with what.

the engine is the original engine.
this engine is just going for maybe 5k. not even that much. i should have a new engine built for it by july or so. i have a new housing coming from http://www.atlantarx7.com
they have realy cheap stuff there. take a look

will the rotor fit into that housing? or do i need to order a new rotor for my engine from that site as well?

Crap! Is that stuff EVER cheap! Used most definitely, but hell, I can't even get a 90$ used gas tank from RX7Heaven in ottawa... it might be worth the conversion charge and shipping!

thanks to rxtsay3
this chart told me what i needed to know
http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/rotorwgt.htm
the rotors weigh different amounts while having the same compression. so i can't use it. the unbalencing that it would cause would vibrate my engine apart.
