Rotary Piston Engine ?
dude cant u see there just jelious of our motors haha
but seriousely thats sweet finally someone caught on that rotaries are better then the piston motor....then some jack *** just HAD to have pistons in it.... but now the question is can we still make fun of it if it ever gets produced

What's really needed is more evolution of the Wankel design, which so far has had a much smaller evolutionary history than piston engines. Maybe things like ceramic rotors, ceramic housings, stackable rotors, etc. There must be some good way to mitigate the low gas mileage problem, perhaps with some of the technology from piston evolution, like variable breathing, compression ratio control, etc.

there were plenty of other piston styled rotaries out there this is nowhere near the first, although it is closer to the actual wankel rotary.

I don't think that will work out. The design is feasable, but without lighter and stronger parts, it'll tear itself apart.
The other "rotary" engine listed above is actually a radial engine, often called a rotary. They have been around since the 1920's I believe and are mearly just a different version of a piston engine, with the pistons in line around a crankshaft with 1 lobe. They are usually very smooth running and quite powerful.

Germany is installing hydrogen distribution systems. Of course, their access to petrol is even worse than ours.
I've seen hydrogen powered piston engines run, and it's not pretty, so maybe the rotary has an opening. Especially in a hybrid configuration that allows the motor to run under a consistent environment.

Speaking of radials, heres one that is actually reffered to as a rotary.....
The crankshaft is bolted directly to the plane, and the cylinder rotate, along with the propeller.Seems insane, but it worked pretty well for the day. There we actually quite a few benefits to the oddball design,as noted at the bottom of the article.

They were pretty common in the early part of the century, most notably in the Fokker Triplane, one of the types flown by the infamous Red Baron.
adding off center pistons to a rotary would be destruction. You would have to increase the weight of the rotary engine 3x and have to use more torque.
thats my 2 cents though..

http://www.jhbperformance.com/products/ out of Winnipeg....they're not entirely ceramic but well its a start ....read up its pretty neat stuff
The Cermet coating is great stuff. I have no experience with it, but there is a rotary shop not too far from me that offer cermet coated housings. They are big bucks though, but from what I hear its well worth it.
oh yeah...do you have a dollar figure?? iv been really interested in them since iv found out about it and curious as too how much it is exactly but iv been to lazy to call..lol the rotary shop would that be mazdees by anychance?
I don't know if I would trust Mazdees with an engine. Haven't heard too many great things about them. But yeah, its Joe at RPM you want to talk to about the Cermet coating. His username is R.P.M.
