rich or lean?

how am i runnin? you may or may not be able to make out what it really looks like in the pic. my digi cam sux ***. but basically i installed these spark plugs, drove the 10 minutes home from pep boys, pulled out a spark plug and it's really dark. it actually has a nice auburn look, but the center piece surround in white is very dark. am i running rich? my car takes forever to start. that's why i bought new plugs, but when i put these in nothing changed. i'm getting sad.

The plug should be slightly black, but the electrode should be almost perfectly clean. If it's sooty, it's rich, if it's ashy, it's lean.

it would help if you take a clearer picture... from what it looks it seems to be like your hitting STOIC ratio...

that thing is rich for sure!! fix your carb, there is something wrong with it. your plugs should be almost white if you are running the stock carb!
