It can be done, but it is easier to use a T2 transmission, which is just as strong.

Rew tranny does not have a place for the spedo cable.

That, and it doesn't take much effort at all to deal with the crossmember.

FCs use a very 1st-gen like crossmember, FDs don't use a crossmember, you'd have to adapt the PPF mounts to a custom crossmember.

T2 tranny is A LOT easier.

Here are a few pros and cons...

T2:
Pros:
1. cost
2. Same style clutch
3. Relocating the shifter mechanism is easier
4. availiability
5. You can screw in the speedo cable
6. Adapting the tranny to the cross member is easy

Cons:
1. Less "cool"

REW
Pros:
1. Really "cool"

Cons:
1. cost
2. different style clutch
3. can't relocate the shifter
4. availiability
5. You have to epoxy the speedo cable in.

You decide for a part that you can't see...

t-2 it is then, so it'll bolt right up to the rew engine with no prob's right? and now how about the flywheel? use the t-2 or rew flywheel, because the engine i have is auto so ima have to convert everything over

Always match the flywheel to the engine, it's part of the rotating balance. Since it was an auto, buy a lightweight flywheel to match the engine and use the auto couterweight. Both the TII and REW use a 240 mm clutch disc.

yes it does, you just have to take the gear off of the speed sensor and put it on the 1st gen cable.

I have a REW with a stock flywheel and a T2 HD PP and 6-puck clutch. T2 tranny and a T2 starter. Everything works great.

Kevin I am interested how you relocated the shifter. If you wouldn't mind elaborating I would apprecriate it.

shifter location depends on how you mount the motor. I pushed mine almost all the way back for weight distribution, so it pushed the shifter back about an inch and a half, but with the short shifter installed it is basically perfect. Did not have to cut the shifter surond with the short shifter by the way.
