1st off, welcome to the forum.

Secondly, if you want to go the performance route, do it *before* considering all your ricer accessories (such as ground effects). Most of us here aren't aiming for big "Fast and Furious" ripoff ricer cars, though *some* are.

The future of rotary is going to go just fine. Rumors are that the Rx8 is a stepping stone to a fourth-gen Rx7. Mazda needed a slightly more "practical" sports car to break back into the american market.... Sell some Rx8s, make Renesis the "engine of the year", turn a few heads with 247hp stock w/o turbos, then redesign the Rx7 for us sportscar fans. It could (and I hope it WILL) happen.

As for learning about these cars, you've come to absolutely the right place. A little over a year ago I knew practically nothing, and now I'm almost finished restoring my '84GS Just stick around, read what comes up, and ask pertinant questions. If you have a question about something, start by using the search feature at the bottom of the main "1st Generation Section" page. Search is your friend.

And please, PLEASE try to make better use of punctuation and spacing. The fact that you even knew how to use the word "idiosyncrasies" in a sentance shows you know *something* about the english language. It's just very hard for one to decipher where one thought ends, and another begins for you. You can always proofread your posts and hit the "edit" button after if you've missed something.

Welcome to the forum, ricer :P

Welcome to the forum.

There is only one way to learn around here and that is to read, READ and finally READ . There is so much information floating around that you can pick up a lot of knowledge by surfing the forum and reading anything that catches your eye.

and finally learn a bit more about the rotary history. You are complaining that the "future" of the rotary ie the RX8 is a pseudo family car, but you are forgettng where it started out with the most popular early rotaies being small saloons and coupe's. Very much inline with what the RX8 is trying to be today.

Good luck with your restoration and I hope all goes well. Just remember one thing .... ' Less is more '

Mike

I'm sorry, but you're a ricer 17'' rims don't look good on a 1st gen, stick with 15'', I suggest enkei wheels(like in my sig), or some panasports. DVD in dash? Why, are you going to watch a movie while you're driving? Great idea . The interior doesn't need painted, or at least not how I know you will paint it, they look good stock, just touch it up SOME if you want it to look different. Turbo kit is a great idea, I'm working on my turbo right now. It takes a lot of work/knowledge to do it right, there are no "kits", you have to know exactly what you're doing and do it yourself. I have a list of about everything you need for the basic turbo setup, just search in the 1st gen section and rotary performance for it, it's there. I think the thread is called 12a Turbo Shopping List in the Rotary Performance section. Talk to Robert, www.rotaryshack.com He know's what he's doing with turbos, but before you call him I suggest you learn a lot so you don't sound like a moron on the phone, you have to help yourself before you can be helped. Nos isn't the best idea unless you know what you're doing, a wet system is a must, but even then if you don't know what you're doing, you will kill your engine. If you really want a body kit, www.mariahmotorsports.com sells some very nice looking ones. Keep the neon's and underbody sh*t off your car though, they look tasteless and just attract unwanted attention from cops.

WTF is fireball exhaust? If you really are putting on a turbo, the exhaust has to be all custom. Just run 2.5'' or 3'' pipe with a straight through presilencer and straight through muffler. Try to get every exhaust part in stainless, many normal mufflers won't last very long with the rotary's extra heat.

Sorry if I sound like an ***, but you have a lot to learn, start searching all over this forum, there is TONS of good information. By flaming you about some of you're mods, I'm also just trying to help you, don't be a ricer.

PM me if you still have questions about a turbo setup after you read through other posts on here.

-Matt

hey, IoTus's car looks good, and it now HAS a TII in it. How do I know?? I helped drop it in. It should be burning rubber in the next couple of weeks.

yes, Robert at Rotaryshack is the ****, but he needs to get that carby setup so we can get this TII on the road!!!

to each their own.

i disagree with nearly everything that is said on these forums as far as styling, and i really dont take the forums opinion for much value.

there are many things you will learn, as far as technical issues, on this forum.

I would, however, reccomend you plan out your performance setup before your exterior kits and such. If i had the money to do it again that is what i would have done.

Atta boy Geoff! Performance before Pimpin' It Up, now you're talking

Though I gotta say, you've got one *Sexy* car... Your mods aren't to intrusive, they're subtle, and add very nicely to the car's original overall styling. I hear you've got the TII dropped in eh? So it's just a matter of time before you have it up and running? or even better... have PICS

As for rotaryricer up there, go ahead and do your own thing, but just take your time and *think* about it first... Do you wanna be like all the other Civic and Supra drivers out there who are obsessed with those stupid Fast-Furious movies? Or do you wanna have a clean looking, Unique, and most importantly, FAST car to show off with? I think if you take some time and learn about our cars, their true history, and their inner workings, you'll find out that what you have here is not a car to be pimped up with ground effects. Rather it's a car that has beautiful stock lines that can be accented with smaller, more subtle improvements (like IoTus' rear lights, or removing the side trim, things like that).

Enjoy your Rx7 man, but don't think we need to get with all the latest fads to make our cars "cool". With a 12a street port (and perhaps turbo), RB Exhaust and a good Holley, We Eat Cool For Breakfast!

if having fast cars was the only thing that was important to us, i dont think we would be so obessesed with 105/133hp motors.

And if having "cool" looking cars was the only thing that was important to us, we'd be driving civivs and supras instead :P And we wouldn't be so violently opposed to all the highly extrusive mods :P

Exactly my thoughts, almost word-for-word. Except in my thoughts, the word was spelled "teach", not "teah".

Also it was 5:30 and after spending all night, trying to figure out how to post stuff i was a little trierd. But i apreciate the few people that comented on my modifications rather then my spelling. thanks
