Replacing coils

My RX7 just will not start.
I have replaced wires, dist cap and rotor, spark plugs. It was running last week..temperature went down and nothing.. now it sounds a bit different but the brand new batt is starting to get low. 220,000km on my 1985 12 a engine/car.

Question is
I am going to replace the coils.. are they specific or can I just put two new coils in it?

It gets fuel but I do believe the ignition is weak.

I put in two Mitsubishi Bosch coils in. They have to different types listed. I don't think there is a difference between them.

Went through this last week. Check the wires coming from the coils if one isn't firing (it sounds like one isnt) then replace the ignitor to that coil, will probably solve the issue. It did for me. check the coil too but i bet dollars to donuts it's the ignitor....my .02

The ignitors are the two black boxes on the distributor. Your best bet is to try wrecking yards, ebay, or the parts wanted/ for sale section on this forum. The used ignitors on here and ebay typically sell for about $20 US.

They come up for sale pretty often on this site and on ebay.

Cool, I hope it works out for you. If the ignitor is the cause of the problem, it is most likely the leading ignition one. You will probably only need one ignitor, but it is always nice to have a spare.

Got the ignitors from the ebay guy today plus the dual coils from the wreckers today...
I will try and see if this all works by the end of next week.
