Theres an online carpet place that had TONS of carpet for tons of cars, including 1st and 2nd gens...

Unfortunatly i lost the link (along with a ton of others) when my drive took a dive on me...

I'd say search the forum, but we've been hacked so many times i doubt the thread is still around.

Dyre is correct, there are actually several online car carpet places. Go into a search engine (I prefer google), and just type in car carpet or something like that and they should pop up.

Also, I know that Victoria British carries carpet sets for the 1gen.

However, if you don't mind doing a little work, you might try going to a carpet store in your town and buy regular carpet there. Then, what you would have to do is cut it properly (and carefully) to fit. You can also get some padding to go with it if you want to use as sound deadening matieral. If there aren't too many truly "fitted" areas where you need to replace, it probably wouldn't be horrifically difficult.

The reason I suggested that last one is because I helped my brother replace the carpet in his Caravan a while back, and that's how we did it. We purchased some padding with it, and it was far cheaper than buying the actual fitted automotive carpet. It came out very nice and the van is even quiter now than it was before. However, if there are many gullies/ridges/dips/divets that you need to fit the carpet into, you would probably want to get the fitted sets.

I recently installed a moulded black carpet into my 7, it was about $180 but it didnt have any of the cutouts for seatbelts, seat brackets shifter etc. it still had to be trimmed it was only moulded to the floorpan, now if I had another chance I think I would of went with VictoriaBritish and spent the $250 for a carpet that is supposedly an exact duplicate of the OEM carpet and is already trimmed and also moulded to the floorpan so all you gotta do really is just lay it down....

But the place I got mine from if your curious frequently adds the carpets on ebay at a starting price of like $169.95 in any color you want. The quality is decent for the price.... Their website is:

my plan involves a bit of elbow grease.

i'm gonna go to a carpet store and get some nice durable carpeting, rip out all the old carpeting and use that as a pattern to cut the new carpet to.

i'll have to go and price it to see if i'll actually save money on it this way...

cpt_gloval --

See my post above. You can save quite a bit of money this way, however, if you are working in areas that are heavily molded, it may be difficult to get the carpet to lay properly. I helped my brother replace carpet in a van in this fashion, but a van has mostly smooth, open flooring. Also, you will likely want to get some padding to go with it so you retain the sound deadening qualities of the original carpet.

Also, I take it by your screen name you are in the service...I was also. 93-97, Parachute Rigger USN.

There is always new complete carpet kits for sale on E-bay. Around $170. Check it out.

Sorry, I see this avenue has already been suggested. Missed it on my first pass down the thread.

You can also get carpet from JC Whitney, although I have no idea what the quality is like.

Also, cpt_gloval, I assume you're a Macross fan?

Lightbulb Carpet

Ive seen some places as well (I.E. Victoria British) but i was wondering if we could find some with an embroidered RX-7 logo on them, that would be sweet.
