If I was going classic I wouldn't be dropping a Renesis in. The whole point of this particular project IS an updated RX-7, keeping the tiny dimensions (and oh-so-insurable vin #s) of the FB platform but fresh mechanicals, tweaked styling, etc.

 

Hey Andrew, were you meaning a more subtle vent cutline like this? If so, I kinda like it. At least on the right side it implies the "7".

(I also changed the rear tail lights to near-stock, so the only body panels that need changing are the bumpers and fenders)

 

Looks good but I'd hate to see you lose the popup headlights. I'd be more inclined to go for some sort of twin "sleepy eye" kit than fixed headlights.

 

Well if you must modify the body...this, imo, is the best looking modified 1st gen I've seen to date:

 

that car sure is sweet, and $$$$ in fabrication. i agree with revhed. go sleepy eye. sleepy eye just looks f'ing cool.
