Renesis Retrofit Rendering
About a week or so ago I posted my plan to plunk a Renesis engine into an FB, along with a list of other upgrades.
Among the upgrades was a fresh styling kit for the body, including a tweaking of the door lines, new bumpers, fenders, quarterpanels, lights, etc.
I have finally rendered a few concepts that could be put into construction. This one is a bit complex as it actually requires new metal for both quarterpanels and the rear end to provide the softened curve dropping from the haunch over the rear wheel to the restyled tail light.
However, I didn't want this to look like some ricer kit slapped over existing sheetmetal, so I thought some reshaping was in order.
The neoprene front header panel/bumper incorporates a low front wing designed to both prevent front end lift and duct air to the brakes.
The side vents are to allow engine compartment air a stylish but functional way out.
Constructive feedback of this rendering is appreciated.

I dunno man.... I still the stock FB lines a lot better than that. Personally I think it will be very hard to improve on the clean classic lines of the original design. Sorry I don't like it better; I gotta be honest.

the 16" rims on there are the ones on my actual car. Going to a greater diameter tends to make the car too uncomfortable for daily driving.
Yeah, it WOULD be a lot of money to get this thing to Mars
but not that much to mould the bumpers and bang the sheet metal _ IF I were to make more than one. as a one-off this thing is going to soak up about half of this year's cash.

well if you really think this can be done I think it does update the looks of a first gen. But, I think that some of the dubble skined areas that your thinking of changing will be a real pain in the @ss for such a subtle set of changes. Personaly I wouldn't change the lights front or back but deleteing the front and back bumper seams looks really good. My major problem with the head lights is that they make it look too much like a old 280 and I had one and didn't like it.
It would look better if you tinted the windows, lowered it a bit, and did something more stylish with that vent....
Like make the vent not so much like a vette, but not like the vipers either..... you should mold the front line to the wheel well... to make a parrallel curve..... and then the top line parrallel to the top body line...... it looks like their is no bottom line... so I assume that it smooths out into the original body form....

I don't really like it 'cause it says, "made and rendered by so and so" on the side
The lines don't look that great... They're kinda out of place. Gimme a little while and I show you what I'd do.

Interesting
The front air dam on mine is actually a separate wing with the sides curling up and alongside the front valence. The headlights become more like the sugarscoop style of a 240Z, though I'm not heaering a lot of support for that kind.

Right, 240 lights (not 280 ) make the care look more different than any thing else that your thinking about. in some ways it gives it a Italian Look. If you like it and can pull it off with a Renisis when they become avalable it should be really cool. My taste differs, but if the Renisis turns out to be all that it is cracked up to be than what better package to put it in than a first gen RX.
If .... you can keep it on the ground.

A second practical concideration is that to extend that line along the top of the fender along the door the way you want to will demand some more gap at least to allow the doors to open. you don't want to have to leave huge gaps like the old grand am's do. so think about how that line will have to change to make every thing work correctly.
Dude total mistitle on the topic....I wanted to see a rendering of a Renesis in an FB, not a martian mobile LOL!
Good job on the rendering, but I would leave the classic FB body alone, and save the rendering for your wife when butt starts to fall...
Right on.
