If it's got an auto-tranny it's probably not rated at 240 hp like he says.

I'd buy them, but I can't think of a flamboyant enough method of turning them into a smallish pile of shrapnel, and/or slag. I don't think an industrial trash compactor would do much damage... maybe fill the housings with C4, light fuse, and get away? Or maybe just see how much acetylene it would take to cut an engine up into 2" by 2" by 2" chunks. Or rent a train and throw them off of a high bridge, at speed, onto some jagged rocks.

You seem to have some feelings against these engines........would you like to talk about it.............how is your relationship with your parents?

How about renting Spaceshipone going up 60 miles and dropping them?

since they are auto motors, they are about useless.

I think it was more like 160-180 hp. But I don't know if that includes the torque converter or not. If it does, there's a ton of power loss right there. Most likely though it's flywheel hp. Such a shame they had to put a turd motor in them. Maybe the rotar are worth something/

the engines put out like 250hp(w/ emissions?) at the crank I believe but the auto lost a lot in drivetrain though.

Hey Peejay, why the rough feelings about these engines?

Is it because Mazda stopped making rotor housing for any other rotary engine, now that they are making the housing for the Rensis?

No, it's because the engines are crap.

Granted, Mazda has no choice, they either comply with emissions regs or stop selling them, but yech. RX-8s do not sound like they are rotary powered, and the sound is probably the *only* reason why I still am with rotaries.

do you like having eardrums? no, well, then no exhaust on a rotary IS sweet music, but can only be endured by those lost in its powers!

The old non turbo engines came with 160 hp. Even the weaker Renesis comes with 195. Crap? Hmm. It is still much more emissions friendly in addition to this so that didn't seem to hurt power any. The RX-8s have tuning issues. It isn't the engine. It has far more potential left in it.

They sound like rotaries to me. The RX-8 muffler is really quiet but an RX-8 with a cat back sounds like a traditional rotary.

auto=4 port engine, less power in an RX-8/ Not worth the money, especially with the lower redline, only 7500.

Guys, peejay doesn't like the sound of a 20B. *gasp!* (cue cricket sounds) I think only a stock and/or ported 12A gets him off.

As for me, I like 13Bs with direct fire ignition systems and Rotary Engineering glasspacks. Oh uh, they sound excellent too.

I'm sure the RX-8 sounds fine when you swap out the stock restrictive stuff.

How about those starters huh? A stuck pig is what 2nd gen and later starters sound like.
