Somebody already put a renesis engine in an FB ? Does the transmission of the FB (12A engine) can be bolted on the renesis ?

At least one person has done this, one write-up came from Japan.

A RX-8 Renesis engine is very expensive compared with a 13B from a RX-7 so its rarely happened. It is a difficult transplant technically so I would not advice it unless you are willing to spend excessive amounts of time and money.

If you want to use a renesis engine it may be better to buy the body at the same time. I would keep to using a 13BT engine as you mentioned being a possibility in another thread.

Ever driven the RX-8? I honestly wasnt a fan (say what you will). What you should do and I promice that you wont be sorry. Buy a JDM 13BT engine w/ trans and put it into the FB. Your not the first person to ask a question like this. The answer is Yes you can put it in for the price. I beleive that you may be able to put the renesis into the FB but the question is why would you waste your money like that. Even though the Renesis's HP numbers look high they are in actuality not.

What? the rx8 has like 250 hp n/a against the 3rd gen 255 hp tt. I think the rx8 is awesome imo.

I thought Mazda over rated the HP numbers and then later changed them to 238hp or something lowered like that

Not exactly, the hp rating is 255 as the ECU was originally programmed. That programming couldn't pass US emissions laws, so they had to hack it up at the last minute to pass emissions, which resulted in a drop of hp.

IIRC if you get a japanese version of the flash, or you go with an aftermarket comp, you can get the hp back.

My question would be why would U want to do this? Nothing bolts up. It would be extremly pricey swap. You could install a TII for alot less money and be faster? I guess if you hapened to have to tortalled rx-8 and had all the parts free it might be a good idea? But for that price a 20b would drop in alot easier and you would be 3x faster.

What was interesting during the process was the various factory figures being quoted for flywheel and rear wheel power. Thus, it gave a good indication of the transmission power loss of a rotary.

Well 255hp, non turbo is going to be damn reliable, then you put it in a car that wieghs nothing and its gonna be damn fast.

i have a rx8 and true it cant keep up with my 2nd gen with just a rb turbo back exaust but it is alot better handling than the 7 but i think its b/c the rx8 is so confortable that it doesnt feel as fast as it is. it also gets faster when you brake it in..

Renesis

Check out Ausrotary i know of approximately 3 cars on there that are Renesis powered, one is a RX3 and the Renesis motor has also been bridge ported.
The difficulty lies in the drive bye wire throttle setup which will limit your after market EFI options.
