As I am getting ready to paint I would like to remove my sunroof and have a solid roof skin welded on.

Anyone do this, i heard the metal is very thin so its pretty tricky.

 

i was thinkin bout this the other day, it wuld look alot better compared to a sunroof.

 

Find a non sunroof car and cut the skin off about an inch from all edges. Lay it on your roof and weld it by doing spot welds, being sure to not put too much heat into the areas you weld. I the Lotus Elise and many other cars have structural chassis pieces bonded with it.
