removing the rear sway bar

I heard that its common to remove the rear sway bar on the first generation RX7 to make them handle better. Is this true?

i got an S (no rear sway bar) and it feels like the damn axle moves allot, then pops back over to where it was quick.

if that makes no sense, my bad.

The "feel" I experience back when I had a rear sway bar was the rear end would drift, drift, drift and then bang it would come around with no warning. With out the rear sway, it gradually drifts and gradually comes around if you let it. In other words, with the bar there was no warning when the rear would break loose and come around, with out the bar it would gradually come around so you had time to correct it.

My $.02

I have my bar out and like it better this way. With the bar out I get some front end push at slower speeds. With it in I would get a ton of oversteer at higher speeds. I was thinking "hmmm plow a little at 15mph or spin out at 70". That made the choice pretty easy for me.

removing the sway bar will definately make the car understeer more than oversteer, and as 1st7heaven said, its a lot more predictable w/o it also.

i wish someone will make a "small" rear sway bar, just the right thickness where the understeer is not obvious, and the rear is easy to control...
