Yeah ,i've heard that too,,get a stick to prop up the glass,then
remove the 2 clips to where they attach to the glass,with the
other ends still attached to the body, push down and see what
happens,,the easiest to colapse is the bad one,,,,or two

1.open hatch
2.Prop hatch open, with a stick (or it will fall on your head)
3.Remove the C clip and the strut pin holding the strut to the glass, (you don’t need to remove the fastener in the glass.)
4.Undo the connection to the body, if I recall correctly I used a 10mm open end wrench, and just unthreaded it from it’s mount.
(Installation is the reverse of removal.)
If you don't have a manual, there is a picture of the Rear hatch components assembly in the Victoria British LTD. Catalog.
