There's a few write ups on how to add an electric fan.

It's easy to remove the fan. It's held by 4 bolts, and you have to hold the pulley with channel locks, or another clamping device to keep it from turning while loosening the bolts.

Hang on fan is also known as an e fan. You need to do some reading up cuz those wimpy ricer fans will NOT WORK for a rotary. We need something like 2200 CFM (ricers are anywhere from 100 to 1500 ish). The clutch fan is increbly good and efficient when it is good. We need a big efan. like BIG

Alot of people (myself included) get it to clean up the engine bay and quiet it down when fans are not needed. Also something to consider is you would be adding another electrical strain on an already weak electrical system. Something to consider

Black magic e-fan is the most popular with the rotary guys

Look for a 1st gen MR2 fan assembly (two fans). Very powerful and its a perfect fit. Takes like five minutes to mount the unit, then add an adjustable fan controller so that it will run automatically. Been using this setup for years and it works great.

Get a junkyard fan from an early 90's V6 Taurus. You will pay about $30-40 for it and it will pull more CFM than just about anything you can buy. The shroud is a perfect fit for the stock rx7 radiator also. Ford had problems with their V6's on the Taurus overheating I believe. This monstrous fan was the solution to their problem, and mine.

This is the fan you need to look for at the junkyard...

Anywhere you buy the fan. Same manufacturer as the Black Magic efan makes them.

Its just an adjustable fan controller. You stick a probe in your rad and set the temp. Make sure you get the right range. Ours are op temp of 180 i believe

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294860934

are what you want. most parts stores that sell efans should have them

AGAIN make sure you get a fan that is capable of sufficient cfm

EDIT: Ken posted at the same time, the ones on that site are expensive. I got a Flex a lite one from MOPAC for 35 bucks.

I paid 18 bucks at Autozone for mine. Works great, but you have to ask for it at the counter, and convince them that they have it.

what temp should our engine be running at? I'm assuming cooler the better... so is some where below 170 ok? Or should it be lower around 160?

When you have the beehive, its a great set up. I don't know about having one with the oil cooler. It doesn't cover it from what I have seen. But hey, it works.

Taurus fan FTW

Dimensions of the efan relay? like 2x2 with a probe like .25x3 inches?

In case you misunderstood he was talking about the relay and not an e-fan for 18 bucks

Take that crap off and replace it with a taurus fan. Wire it with a relay to turn on with your ignition (power from coils basically) and kiss your problems goodbye.

^ what he said. Its not the best way to do it, but dammit, it works. Take one wire from the fan to the + side on your coil, and just ground the other one on a chassis bolt or whatever. It was probably one of the most noticeable mods Ive ever done. Definite butt dyno increase.

But why waste the energy running the fan full time? Most of the time, unless idling for a long period, the fan isn't even needed...

You will need to take the taurus fan from a "3.8Litre" taurus.

I HIGHLY recommend this Painless fan switch and wiring kit. I've used two of them before and the quality is fantastic. I switch to a mechanical style choke and put the probe in where the choke temp sensor goes. You will need to tap the threads on the water housing to get the probe to thread right. It's definitely worth the extra work though. You'll never have to worry about whether your fan is coming on at the right temp or not.
