Reference Photos

Hi, new to the forums.
Unfortunately I don't own an RX7, I have two AE86 Corollas.
I'm actually here looking for reference photos and information.

I'm working on a plastic model car project, 1979 SA22C IMSU Spec RX7 with a 13B turbo rotary. And needed some reference photos of the car, mainly the engine bay. I looked at your "Post Pics" page, and found great stuff.

Photos of any SA or FB cars would be helpful.

Well, if anyone can help me I was looking for photos of:
- Under face of hood, to see the hood skeleton.
- A layout of engine bay wire harness, just for an idea.
- Throttle body/ intake manifold
- Any other close-ups of engine bays.

Just so you have an idea of what I'm working with:

The 1st gens did not come with a 13BT, only the 2nd and 3rd gens. There are 3 genereal variations of those engines, along with the 13B RE.

In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs,. Perhaps the line drawings in those may be of more use than pics.

Thanks, I was just looking at the FAQ.
Great stuff!

Well, for modeling purposes I can only get my hands on a 13BT engine. In fact my model chassis, interior and engine is from a FC kit. So it also will have IRS. I'm basically building a FC with a SA body.

Not quite an accurate model due to the limitation of available model parts and kits.

That's the problem we have: Trying to get certain parts. Good luck.

Where did you get that model?

Do you want me to just take a photo of the underside of a factory hood?

And tell me a little about your Corollas.

I got the model from a local hobby shop.
And yes, just a photo of the underside if possible.

So far I have only owned Corollas.
My first being a 1987 SR5 in highschool.

I then purchased a 1987 GTS

Lastly I bought a 1987 SR5

And did a full GTS conversion using my previous car as a parts car.

Looks like some one beat me to the photo.

Nice Corollas though, at first I was going to say you really like the baby supra wheels but then in one of the rebuilding photos you had some different wheels on there.

There are actually quite a bit of SA models available, most of them of IMSA race cars:

Aoshima:

Fujimi:

Arii:

The kits above are pretty low on detail, originally designed to be motorized and has virtually NO interior.

There are also SA manufactured by Monogram which may be available on ebay.

Here's the only FB I know of from Tamiya:

Good luck finding a kit.

Celica Supra rims are very nice fit for the Corolla.
Currently I have a mix of SSR MK3 rims and some Centerlines (seen below on my old car):

Any other photos can be useful.

Thanks!
