RECOVERED!!! I FOUND MY CAR!!! Long post...
Well boys and girls, all tests are passed, everything is clear (amazingly), and Im officially sworn in as a member of the US Army. I leave you all for boot camp in 21 days on Feb. 25th. They gave me a $2K quick ship bonus because they had to move my ship out date up at the last second, but it doesnt matter to me, more money the better
. Anyway, Im going to basic and AIT for my brand new job as an MP!!! YAY!!! I am one of the select few who can call themselves an MP in the Army
. After I finish basic, Im posted to work at Ft. Lewis here in Washington as a reserve (one weekend a month, two weeks a year). Everything seems to be going good, and by my figuring when I get back from basic I should have close to if not over $6,000 just sitting in my account after those 18 weeks waiting to be blown all over my turbo project
.
~T.J.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and y'all better watch out up here in WA. Hopefully soon after I turn 21 Ill get into a police department as well as my being an MP for my daily job!! This should be cool! I dont remember feeling this good about my future in a long time. Even if it doesnt all work out, its still nice to know that I at least have a plan to try and stick to and Im not just wandering aimlessly. Thanks to whoever all hinted that I should look into military service, it seems like its going to be a great savior to me.

Best of luck to ya dude! We'll be here waiting on a post (if you can get hold of a computer in basic) to keep us updated.
Very happy you've found something to be excited about!
Waking up in the morning will feel very different to you about now.

Good luck man...for real! I really do hope you sparked a new direction in your life...your last few posts have been kinda dismal!
Thats great T.J. My cousin leaves for Paris Island in a few weeks to join the Marines. I'm worried about his sanity but a little in awe at the same time; it takes courage to make that kind of commitment. Good luck!
Good luck, hopefully you can use some of that training on the people who stole your car.
.Im hoping to join a local police department soon after getting back from basic, so I might be able to push my case along a little faster
.The plan as of right now is to leave for basic on the 25th of this month. Ill get back and start going to a local technical college for autobody/paint (so I can learn how to paint my car after the engine swap). The Army will pay for that, plus give me extra "living money" to use while going to school for books and whatever on top of the tuition money. So, Ill take one year or so in autobody while working the weekends as a reserve at Ft. Lewis here in Washington, and in my spare time installing my engine and everything into my RX-7. Then, when Im done with school, I will have already been applying to local police departments, and most likely can start working for one. My recruiter put over 30 members of the Seattle police out in Seattle from the Reserves (people like me who wanted to be cops), so the chances he can get me in are pretty good. Plus the Washington State Patrol is part of a program in partnership with the Army for job placement, so yet again, my chances are good.
Basically, idealy in the end, I will be working as a cop for some local department, be a part-time MP at Ft. Lewis, and have a turbo FB and will have a year of college behind me in autobody just for the knowledge of it. All that can very possibly work out just because of the Army. All Im hoping now is that I can pull it all off. All the goals are set up for me, I just have to achieve them.
Also, as a fun little bonus, if I can pass this test the Army gives me before I ship out I can get a promotion. Im sure I can do that. Then, on top of that, one of my friends happened to be joining at the same time as me, but since we went to the same recriter, hes going to put that I referred him, meaning I get another promotion when he joins. Talk about fun
.Its kind of odd that all this worked out the way it did. It was truly like it was meant to be. First off, I apparently am color blind, so I wasnt supposed to be accepted. Then, I have that arrest some of you may remember from about 2 years ago when I was at a park and some kids broke into the vending machine and I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. On top of all that, I almost missed the physical because my room at the hotel the Army had me stay at didnt get a wake up call, and I just happened to wake up at 3:45 and we were supposed to be out at 4. Then, when I was sitting down with the job couselor, the two positions that were open at Ft. Lewis got filled on the computer. But, since they had just gotten the waiver for my color vision, and managed to get me into a security position regardless of my arrest, they called the fort, and my recruiter used to be the 1st Seargent of the unit there, and they specifically made another opening for me. Its weird too because when they ran my background check, they didnt find ANY arrest records OR speeding tickets on me, which would be disqualifying for entry. But, they just told me to fill out a form with all the records I know of, that way when/if they show up later its not like I lied to get in. Its just weird how many things shifted/worked to get me into that job with the training I wanted at the place I wanted to work, its really like it was meant to be. I just hope it all works out in the end
.~T.J.
PS - Sorry for the long post, again
.EDIT: Oh yeah, and in case you were wondering what made them decide to waive the color vision, apparently it was because I did really well on their ASVAB test and scored like double the national average, so I guess they really wanted me in or something.

No, car returned, no arrests made, nothing else happening. Bunch of BS. I hate police work. I wanna go all vigilante on their *** now that the cops arent doing anything, plus Im a trained MP for the Army, I have a little better of a chance against them now too.

Also cant get a job as a cop because my driving record wont pass department standards, and on my first reporting date get told Im on a list for possible deployment. Wonderful. Granted I knew it would happen eventually, but damn it, my FIRST report date?!

Yeah, well I get a promotion to E-3 on Sept. 1st, so Ill get a little more, but its still lame. I need a real job daily, and a working truck. Hopefully Ill get my truck running again and I may drive down to Cali for 7 stock. Maybe Ill throw my CBR in the back and take that too so I can ride around once I get there. Wouldnt that be weird, huge lifted Yota at a rotary convention. I thought about putting a 13B in it and calling it RotaYota, but thats WAY more than a stock engine rebuild, lol.
