rebuild or swap?

didnt have any idea where to really put this but
Im kind wanting to keep my 12a rotary instead of swapping in a new 13bt s5
however the 12a is completely stock and has been running for roughly 8 years on and off (it sat for nearly 20 years)
so should i rebuild it or buy a relatively new 13bt s5?
id love to throw a big turbo or supercharger on my 12a but i dont know how many miles i have on the car seeing as its missing its 6th digit. Currently the miles read 30,xxx; therefore I have no idea if its 130,xx miles or 230,xxx miles etc etc
so I don't know what to do
ive been told and seen facts to prove its cheaper to swap and engine than to rebuild
plus a buddy of mine has taken a huge interest in my old 12a
so to swap out the 12a for a 13bt or rebuild the 12a and make it a 12aT
do keep in mind im 19 having to buy each and every tool i use because my dads a carpenter with a tiny background in cars mechanics so I cant really use his garage full of tools because they are wood tools( drill bits , screws, etc, which means no welder either)

You probably have an SA22C ('79-'80) so I'd say stick with the 12A and install a supercharger after you get the engine rebuilt. The driveability is very excellent. You'll love it.

how expensive would it be to rebuild the 12a to a point where it can stand boost?
also keep in mind id need to replace the transmission seeing as at least 2 of the 5 synchro's are out and its grinds the gears if you shift it too fast.....many problems with the transmission

Apex seals, maybe rotor housings. Also side seals and usually oil seals. Maybe bearings if they're worn.
