Rearend opptions

Im building a FB for some drag and street usage. My gslse rearend is already junk. Im shooting for about 500hp at the tires. What have i got for rearend options that wont require backhalfing my car.

Datsun pick up rear end..

Alot of people use it andI heard you just swap the brakets over..

I think you need to get it out of a mid to late 70s Datsun pick up.
I heard Toyota, and Ford Curiors work too.

You need to find some one who has done this swap.

A Ford 9 or 8.8 will need liek arear sub frame/rear end supports

BTW whats screwed up on your SE rear?
Bearings?
the LSD?
Ring gears?

Im going to be building a play time drag/track car soon
We got a 83 12A we are going to use im going to take a 84/85 GS rear.since they have bigger axels I got a locker with welded spider gears.

Im going to try this for temporaly, all the parts are free,So I dont care if they brake.

I havent opened it up yet but when your rolling the car around theres a very loud noise coming from it. Its like a clanking noise. Thanks for datsun info, this should save me some time at the junkyard. Keep me posted on your drag car with the locker setup.

With most diff conversions it's just a matter of transfering all the sunspension brackets over from the stock diff to the new one. Ovbiously this is specialised work and needs to be done on a jig so everything lines up.

Also, depending on the diff and application the housing usually needs to be shortened and the axles shortened and re-splined (or have billet axles made up).

Then there's the matter of sorting out the brakes, deciding whether you want to keep the same stud pattern etc,

Probably easier for you guys just to get a pre-fabricated 9" conversion from grannysspeedshop.
