Exclamation Rear Windshield Wiper

Well,

After switching all of my windshield wipers out my rear one decided not to work. It budges up an down a little but wont go up and down full movement unless it's about to fall off the bottom which in that case it works fine and will try and scratch up my paint.

If I take off the blade the arm works fine so it's not the motor in it...I put back in the original wiper that was on there that worked and it doesn't work either.

Suggestions please!

Thanks,
Eric

you probably need to clean the contacts on the passengers side window strut.

Which contacts should I be cleaning? I already tried two metal parts with sand paper...

Sound like your describing a mechanical problem... not an electrical one. I may be dyslexic, I don't know.

the drivers side hatch strut (arm that holds up hatch glass) has a connector at the base near the wiper motor housing. If the motor is under powered, it won't move far. cleaning up the copper metal parts will help with the connection. Also, the motor achieves ground thru your defroster on the hatch, so make sure everything is ok there as well.

The rear wipers are pretty much known for not working in my experiance, Ive personally fixed a couple. It sounds to me like youre wiper is getting power just fine, the motor is just fawked up and not having enough torque to move the blade across the glass.

If the blade you put on is too heavy then the motor will have a hard time moving it.

If you still have the old wiper blade put it on and see if the problem percits.

There could be a problem with the armiture of the motor ie. the rotor inside may have a dead section.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a working rear wiper on our FB's. I thought they were there for aerodynamics (in case you didn't have a spoiler)

Well,

The stock blade that was on there won't move anymore either so I'm lost.

Yes, I have no wing or front valance so I'm royally screwed if aerodynamics kick in. I got her to 100 MPH in 4th gear (at around 4k rpms before I let off) but I left off due to my whole end feeling like she was a bird trying to fly.

Thanks,
Eric

tighten down the bolt that attaches the arm to the motor. I had the same problem on my volvo.
