Rear taillight gaskets/seals available? We'll see

The Stokes Mazda website says they have these in stock. I just ordered two because my current seals let exhaust in and, of course, I/we can't find them anywhere.

Here's the link: https://www.yourmazdaparts.com/a/Maz...ng/541152.html - #3 in the diagram

I'll post back with a review once/if I receive them.

Nevermind. I just received an email stating the order had been cancelled and refunded with no reason provided. I guess they're not truly "in stock". It was definitely worth the try.

Nevermind...I just received an email stating that the order was cancelled and refunded, most likely because they aren't truly "in stock". Oh well, it was worth the try and would have been very cool to land these.

Good lead!

Let us know if you get them. I'm sure a bunch of us could use a new set,

After years of making do I've finally found a solution to this one thanks to derSchwamm and KRYPREO.

See derSchwamm's post here:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...pping-1132923/

And here they are for sale on ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mazda-Rx7-S...d=192789348513

I bought a set for the taillights and center trim, $70 delivered from Australia, which seemed pricey at the time but I took a chance.

I'm very pleased, excellent quality and look to be a bit beefier than the originals, although that might be because the rubber in the original35 year old seals has shrunk and deteriorated.

Also it looks like they are made from neoprene rubber instead of natural rubber, so they should hold up well.

It's a gift given to me by a member of this site who has a lot of mechanical aptitude, but no automotive experience that i've been helping for awhile doing diagnosis and repair of running problems that's blossomed into full fuel system overhaul tank to engine on an SE,along the way replacing problem causing non Mazda parts installed by previous owner along with an unaddressed gunked up fuel tank and pump and filter and getting injectors reconditioned.....

.Also guided her on how best to replace all rear suspension rubber bushings which was just completed. All coolant hoses replaced, radiator being removed for tanking and cleaning is next with water pump belts and t-stat replacement. Brake system overhaul is next, rebuilding calipers,,new wheel bearings, rotors, pads, upgrading hoses, upgrading brake fluid, bleeding brakes. RB streetport system will follow. Keeping focused on one system at a time, completing it so car can be driven before moving on to next system and to evaluate the before/after.

The box was made by her, cabinet maker by trade and is a one off i'm afraid, like the FB keychain that was given to me for helping another member here thru a big project. She saw the keychain on my computer desk in a picture i was making to show her correct type FI hose/clamps and how to make a 90 degree fuel supply hose for fuel pump that's been discontinued for some time. She's really into learning how the car works and how to repair, upgrade and modify. Not her first 1st gen, think she had an FC Turbo II but went back to 1st gens, liking them better.

It showed up in FEDEX box couple months ago. I don't know how she got the dimensions, but it is accurate. It's laminated from many pieces, felt lined on inside, pretty neat. I was surprised by it. She said her way of thanking me,i'm good with that.
Pics...

That is an absolutely beautiful piece she sent you!!! That is something to be cherished and it will display anywhere quite nicely!! The person that made that is quite talented. I would have felt honored to receive such a nice gift.

I've been too busy driving it to clean it up and take pictures Mike.

But I should get to it by this weekend, I'll take pics after I've installed those new tail section seals and a new power antenna and a bath.

I'm eager to see how those seals fit and how they look installed.

That sellers going to get a lot more international business based on how those fit. My seals are dry and intact, but so brittle that they break if you look at them sideways. I took off the center fascia a few weeks back when doing Dynamax in the hatch space and handled it very carefully. The pics look great,

I bought those seals from Fibremaz as well. Very good quality. The exchange rate with Australia isn't too bad either.

I did notice that they need to be installed with something in the 'groove', otherwise they are loose around the taillights. The original seal had some sort of a putty in it based on the remnants of my old seals. Anybody know what that is?

Is that the weather stripping under the front windshield surround trim?
I'm looking for the rubber weather stripping under mine.

Please say you have a vendor that produces/sells it. That's one the remaining items I need to reassemble my 85 SE.

Nope the profile of that seal is different. It would be very difficult to economically reproduce the windshield trim rubber. Fortunately, I have figured out to address the bits you're after and posted up information on to do so. Read up here: 1st gen rx7 windscreen trim/moulding weatherstripping - AusRotary
