Not sure by what you mean of just a pick up replacement? The stock ones are all one piece with the tank and none of it is removable.

I think he means on the S3 tanks. Any s3 tank, even in if isn't an SE, has a removable pickup. The SE pickups are just bigger and the tank is ready for efi. Blowthrough carb guys could really benefit from a pickup replacement like mpk490p suggested, if they have an 84 or 85 tank, that is.

I may be in need of one of these in the future. I have to drop my tank and see what kind of shape its in on the inside.

All the laser cut parts are here now, just needs to be bent to start welding. I'll post up some pictures later on tonight.

Ball Park of about 650$, this would be including a new fuel level sensor.

Considering a 81-83 tank through mazdatrix is 1050$, the 84-85 500$, plus another about 100$ for the fuel level unit on either tanks. I think this would still be somewhat of a good deal.

I'm still a bit concerned about shipping prices...

What kind of modifications or parts will be needed for the 79 & 80 SAs? I'm looking to get one of these as long as it's compatable with my 1980.

I wouldn't be too concerned with shipping. If people want them, they will get them. Shipping wasn't too bad when I ordered my steering rack and front crossmember kit. I couldn't imagine it being more expensive than that as the gas tank will be lighter. The work that the company produces is great work, which is why we all buy things from you. You have quality parts at prices that the normal person can afford. I think you guys rock, just my .02

When it comes to something as large as a tank the weight matters less than size. They usually charge a particular rate per size over a certain size. Something that large has to be truck shipped in a very large package. The rack kit comes in a significantly smaller package than the tank will. The tank will be in a box similar in size to what a front bumper would ship. I was quoted $250US to have a bumper shipped from California to Ontario.

There should be no modifications required at all. Direct bolt on is the idea.

That is exactly what I meant by that. Due to its size, there might be extra freight charges, not to mention possibly customs and duties charges for all US guys.

it could be worth the price as its a custom made "universal" (fitting all model years of 7's) gas tank. will have to por 15 the entire thing though.. ohio is brutal on metal..

Perhaps Sam could offer that as an extra before shipping.

Makes perfect sense, didn't think of bulkiness of the tank. I just had weight on the mind. Either way, I would pay $250 shipping to have a brand new, better made, custom gas tank.

Is there a possibility of a coating on the inside and powder coated outside? Obviously more money, but that would just mean a lot longer life span.

I shipped a gs tank from georgia to ohio thru USPS from a 82 parts car and it only cost like 65$ shipping. Shouldent be killed on shipping at all.. I just bubble wrapped it and boxed it.

Shipping across a border changes a bit of that up too. I'm hoping it stays under 150$ for shipping but we'll see.

On another note, I was finally able to pick up the aluminum from being bent. Here's a few shots of it kinda tossed on top of each other. I wonder how many filler rods I'll be using!

I don't know if I'll realistically do this. Its a big job trying to do that. I would offer powder coating, but one big issue is , it won't fit in the oven that I have.

I am a little confused on how that looks and how it will fit (compared to a stock tank)

I am assuming it's alot smaller than 15 gallons too?
