RB Exhaust System - 1985 GSL

All,
I will expose my ignorance in the first sentence here...I am ignorant on the whole emissions/exhaust system (not stupid, just ignorant/uninformed). That is why I am on here...to pick the brains and experiences of those that are NOT ignorant and are subject matter experts. So Thnaks!!

Well, it all started with me wanting to change my radiator. No issues there, have bought an aluminum radiator and it's ready to go in. While the radiator was out, I decided to change all the belts/hoses and water pump. So I pulled the whole housing, have bought all the gaskets, even painted some of the stuff and it's all ready to to go back in. So far, so good.

Now that I have a bunch of stuff removed already, I am thinking of installing a RB exhaust system (header, pre-silencer, muffler). This is where my true ignorance shines like the sun. I know I have to remove the heat shield, exhaust manifold, air pump, and a couple of other things to facilitate installing the header. I also understand that there are a couple of "hose" connections on the CC that are used for the the emissions system. I am guessing I need to block off the "emissions connections" at the CC, can I put everything back on (air pump and anything else removed) and expect the car to run the same (in relation to the emissions system)? I don't want to remove the rats next and modify my carb by removing stuff. My car runs pretty darn good (it didn't run at all when I got it, so I installed a commercially rebuilt NIKKI carb).

Any insight whatsoever you can provide for this possible effort would be appreciated. I like doing the work, I don't like not knowing the best process for doing so and what the possible outcomes might be. I have read dozens and dozens of threads on here, but can't seem to piece together the entire effort. I have read that some folks are OK with the RB system, others are not. I am not a great mechanic, but I am not afraid of the work and actually enjoy it. I just don't want to go backwards when the car is running pretty darn good.

Your thoughts, experiences and recommendations would be VERY MUCH appreciated......Mike
