i have a dellorto going on in the next couple weeks and have a few questions....

1st off...with the rats rest being removed....what do i do dofferently with the dellorto as opposed to rats with a nikki?

secondly...anyone have any real world experience with a dell and the stock fuel pump ..its an 85
and ive been told it can handle up to 10 secs or so of wot before stmbling...but thats just on paper......

cheers,

not sure what you're asking here. what do you mean by "do differently"?

the stock pump will run it, but it won't run it well. definitely upgrade your pump. do a search to get some detailed info, but in a nutshell, you have two basic options (1) parallel 2 low pressure pumps for the needed volume, or (2) get one high pressure pump that gives adequate volume and scale the pressure back with a regulator. i'm not going say if one's better or not because when i replaced my stock pump, i replaced it with option 2 - i've never tried option 1.

real world experience is always RELATIVE to the person you're asking, so i'll just say this. they're very good carbies, VERY streetable, the manifold sucks! - but if it's tuned right, and you have a strong ignition and good exhaust, they're not too shabby at all!

hope this helps.

EDIT: oh yeah ... and if what you're asking involves the Dell'Orto and the rat's nest sharing the same space - the answer is don't bother.

Silverrocket and Rxcetera helped me sort mine out ... so you might want to keep them in mind if this thread does not fetch enough answers for you.

plug anything on the Dell? No ...
only thing i can think of on the carbie is if yours does not have provisions for the oil lines (OMP) then you have to run pre-mix or figure something out. but other than that just slap the 2 manifolds (unless you're lucky to be using a Weber manifold) on and then slap on the carbie ...

go aftermarket? Yes.

if i remember right nothing was connected to my dellorto as far as vac lines. all that was hooked up was the fuel (no return line), the 2 oil lines, and throttle. then there is the choke cable...but a dell doesnt have a proper choke anyway, just ups the revs. nice clean setup.

ok, that makes a bit more sense.......

and easier......grin

first time ive ever changed a carb..but it looks fairly straight forward......

and, i was just wondering, how badly will it run on the stock fuel pump...fundage only allows a certain amount of upgrades per month
