Suspension/spring rate questions

I'm looking to buy this "coil-over" kit http://www.ground-control.com/gcrx7cat.htm see on this page, how are these installed? i'm pretty new to suspension work... never messed with it much until now...i'm also wanting the stiffest springs they have... the 700lbs/in, but would this cause damage to my stock car, i don't mind it being stiff as hell. the roads i travel are generally completely smooth. i already have fairly stiff rear springs in my car (not sure the spring rate they're aftermarket and came from the front of a hyundai and fit almost perfect) i got them for free.

700?

Yeah, that's pointless on a car this light. You might as well put a steel block on ther einstead of a spring...

For the most part people run 300 or 350 in the front and 175 or 200 in the rear..

I'm running the 350's up front and that's about at stiff as you coudl possibly want for street driving.

A few guys who have dedicated track cars run more like 500f/350-400r but again, we're talking bridgeported modified class cars here on 16x10 hoosiers.

Ask Ground control, they knw theire **** and will set you straight for you application.

Hmmmmm , I have driven an SE with 450LB springs up front.
I am not joking when I say that my back hurt for the rest of the week because of how stiff it was.
The car is so light there would be no performance advantage to the car.
About the only thing it will do is make you look really dumb, as you drive around the streets with your car bouncing from every little stone and bump on tyhe roan.

Call Ground-control and talk to Jay, and tell him what you want to do. Don't be affended if he drops the phone because he is laughing too hard.

450lb is about as stiff as the street will allow, before you start breaking your aluminum wheels and stress cracking other key areas.

Good luck with this project.

That bumper is cracked and fucked up anyway, i don't mind. go-cart handling will be worth a few more breaks and cracks, i can't wait.

Does that $90-$100 price include springs? Just wondering, becasue I was thinking of checking with afcoracing.com (they are down the street from me so it is convienent) and see if they would have stuff that would work. They have a few different coil over kits that look almost identicle to the one pictured on ground pounders wedsite, and a assortment of the 2.5" springs. Last time I added up everything it looked like both sides with springs would run a little less than $180. But if there price is with springs, might just not screw with it and irder the groundpounder setup.

Also does the coil oer kit give anymore clearance for larger wheels?

450 is too hard for the street. Go softer. Eville yes the small dia front springs will give more clearance for bigger wheels. EIbahcs for the street/track come as a 171 in front. Let that be your guide.
