ON Rats Nest

Seems to be my day for newbie questions. Why remove the rats nest unless you are installing a different manifold and carb? Are there performance/drivability gains?

I renewed vacuum hoses and checked solinoids and the car runs great or am I missing something?

The biggest reason aside from tidying up the engine bay is to remove excess points of failure. One big problem alot of people end up chasing is vacuum leaks. Without the rats nest there are alot less vacuum lines, therefore alot less places for vacuum leaks to occur.
