Question Rats are gone... but they took something with them!

The chock won't stay open now, runs about 3000r's for a second and dies. And that's if I hold the choke out. Also notice a soleniod by the AAB on the Tutorial that is not on mine.Anyone?

mmmmhhhhhh
there is a sensor on the back of the water pump housing, just tie those wires together and the choke will stay out as long as you want....

p.s. how do the rats like thier new home???? LOL

brian -

post a pic or two of your carb.

I think I know what the prob is but I'd need a pic to say for sure.

Else, like Andrew was saying, those wires that you could tie together? They should be connected to the corresponding wires from the water pump - else the choke will never stay open. Also make sure the choke cable or linkage aren't caught on anything.

pratch - I think he's removed more than what you guys removed in your tutorial. That's why I think a pic would be useful.

Yes a picture IS worth a thousand words but I just bought a bunch of parts instead of a digi. if anyone has a pic i could draw what mine looks like using it.(Maybe)
I can tell you thought that the A/C solenoid got broke.Using anotuher one till I get the repalcement,I know the other ones are differnt but I'm not using the A/c so doeas that matter. I don't have a soleniod on the carb by the AAB as shown in the tutorial. where does the subzero line from the tank on the firewall go?

Sorry, I'm at work. I'll take a look tonight and see if I can picture what you're looking at vs mine. I removed more than the tutorial showed, so I think I know what you're looking at but I need to look at my carb to be sure. As far as the A/C thing goes, it's up to you. If you never plan on using the A/C, remove all the A/C components. Look elsewhere in the forum for instructions and caveats on venting to the atmosphere.

In your garbage can. It (the sub-zero unit) probably doesn't work anyway.

OK, thought about it some more. Did you remove the bimetal choke heater? If so, then you'll find that your choke won't close. Used some wire to make the choke plate close off, then removed the wire and reinstalled the choke heater.

What year is the car?

okay, got the choke. I disconnected it as in tutorial. I guess I'm suppose to to reconnect it. I am especially concerned about the soleniod on the AAB side of carb.It idels now with chock closed still about 3000rpm but if I open it ATT ALL it dies.

look for vacuum leaks. You're able to idle rich, right? With the carb choked. But let the choke off and it dies?

Sounds like a vac leak. Check your block-off plates. Make sure you've capped the nipples on the intake mani, the carb and the spacer.

I'd be looking for a large leak. Did you plug the manifold ports? The AAB and the tube that runs to the cat?

Sucking air through the plate under the carb (where the((AAB?) use to be. anywat I thought I could get by with some gasket maker but I went out and got some cork.I'm trying to let it set up some and I'm going to see if that does it. I'm sure it will help cause it was really sucking!

Back side of carb? Sounds like you're talking about the shutter valve. Two small holes? Man, you cleaned *everything* off the carb.

Way to go, though. Good job sticking with it.

I thought it was a vacuum leak...

Whew, I missed this whole thing LOL. I never asked anyone to disconnect the choke switch in the tutorial. You must have confused it with something else? Tell me where you thought this was so I can make a change if its confusing.

Like Robert said, you could just shrot the wires together, then itll work whenever you want. Also, some years didnt have that extra solenoid, dont sweat it. The line from the sub zero goes to a fitting between the OMP lines. Youll see it. Just put a rubber cap on it to keep dirt out, and disconnect and remove that thing and send it to hell with the rats nest.

The noise you hear is a little after startup? Its probably the fan spinning up to speed.
