Random idle question.
Up until last night my idle was right near 1,000 rpms. Yeah I know its a little high, but from what I've read up on that most people with a Holley 465 Racing Beat setup runs a pretty high rpm. Anyway, now comes the problem. Last night I was hanging out with some friends, and on my way home I noticed that my idle stayed up at 2,000 rpms. Sometimes going all the way up to 3,000 rpms. Most of the time kicking the pedal back and stuff fixes it, but I couldn't get it down lower than 2,000 rpms. I was today it was doing the same thing.
Is it just time to retune the carb thanks to the weather being a bit colder, or do you think something is getting stuck open with the carb? The carb is pretty much brand new. Less than a couple months old.

had the same prob. i sprayed it inside and out with carb cleaner, let it sit and hit it again. i have done this 2 or 3 times already and it works better if u take it off but dont have to. dont know what causes yours, but mine has something to do with angle of the oil feed lines in the carb ( the 2 metal hoses inside the body ). i was told to bend them GENTLY downward. works thus far.

what do you have for a throttle return spring on there?
its a harder pedal but pulls it back if its only a binding problem
check the arm and lobe for the accelerator pump as well
the arm sometimes rolls off to the side and can cause some binding aswell
not to mention acceration problems
check your fuel pressure
my holley only ran good below 4psi
