Racingbeat exhaust setup

I'm about to drop the new engine in and I need to decide on an exhaust. I am goin to buy something that just bolts, I don't want to mess aroud to much.

My question is will I loose performance if I buy the full street port system if I have a stock port with rb intake and holly carb?

Lose performance compared to what? The RB streetport system is the best bolt-on we can get, at least in the States.

I was givin the impresion from some people on this form that if you have to large of pipes you can loose power. I'm looking at the the street port or just the regular kit.

I guess that would depend on you setup whether you are FI'd or NA? Personally, I would not go more than a 3in exhaust if I was NA if that.

both kits have the same size pipe, EXCEPT the SP is 2.25 after the collector, which is better.

the other kit is 1.75 after the collector, which is just too small.

2.0" O.D., same as the short system

in fact there are 2 basic differences between RB's two systems

1. the SP system uses a much longer header, its 100ish inches vs 30ish. long systems generally offer a very wide power band, vs the short systems higher peak hp. having had both on the same car, power @6500 is very close, but @3000rpms the SP system makes way more power.

2. the after the collector diameter. on the "normal" system its 2x2" pipes merged into a 2" pipe. the SP system is 2x2" pipe into 2.25". 2" is very small, 2.25 is just about right. in fact one of the changes for the FC was to go to about a 2.25 pipe diameter.

Just to clarify what j9fd3s is saying, the RB streetport system has two long 2" OD thick-walled primary pipes (~1.75" ID) that collect into a single 2 3/8" OD thin-walled pipe (2.25" ID). FC headers have short primaries that collect into 2.5" OD but use thick-walled pipe, so the inside diameter remains the same at 2.25".

In any case, no, the collected diameter of the RB streetport system is not too big for any rotary. In fact, it's the minimum I would use, personally.

I bought mine used, full system (header, mid pipes, muffler) for ~$400 on the
forum in the classifieds. Its was barely used and had some surface rust on the
mid pipes. I wire wheeled it and painted it black with high heat bbq paint and
installed. Works great and looks fine.

Keep you eye on the classifieds, they're always popping up.

This is what I got and should work great with your set up.

I sounds agressive but not too loud (IMHO).

Racing Beat Road Race headers

Dual exhaust. (Make sure you get enough pipe...normally they sell 2 sections but that is with the pre-silencer. If you don't use the pre-silencer, make sure you get extra pipe.)

Dual inlet RB exhaust.

I'v got stock porting, but I set this up to support street porting later one. So it should be good for you.

Good luck.

I agree 100% with this post.

Hey, good luck finding the SP exhaust. I fell in love with one I borrowed for a wonderful summer in '07. The car literally felt like it was boosted when the secondaries opened. The low end torque was also good thanks to the dual long primary pipes.

I've had the SP exhaust for two years now and on the stockport engine it was great. Nice quiet idle and loud at WOT. With the new streetported 13B it sounds great at idle although I haven't heard it at WOT since I've been having some problems getting the car running right. Seems so far like it will do the job, only time and dyno tuning will tell though.
