Racing Beat SS Oil Cooler line Torque specs for real?
An insert came inside my Racing Beat oil cooler order claiming I need to torque the fittings to 300-360 Inch-Pounds.
WTF!
Anyway, I went to Sears to see what is available for torque wrenches and the most they had was 300 Inch-Pounds and it was only in ractchet form which of corse will not fit 3 of the 4 stock settings and will not fit 4 of the 4 Racing Beat SS lines as all of them require an open end box style wrench.
Can I get away with some medium locktight and standing on the wrench or what the heck do I do? Not to mention that all the positions are kind of hard to get to in order to exert a serious force on.

I can get 30 Ft-Lbs out of a normal Craftsman combonation wrench. I probably wouldn't have to use the cheater pipe. (Mine's a piece of steel pipe which I wrote "Snap-On" on the side. That increases the torque by 30%!) Although I may have to double link two wrenches.

wackyrotary is right, you can easily create enough pressure to tighten it, the point of using a torque wrench is to make sure that you are tightening the bolt/fitting/whatever to a specific amount.
Look at the slip - it is INCH pounds. They do not want you to OVER tighten it. If you do both Earls and Racing Beat will void your warrenty.
The specs for my RB/Earls SS brake lines are 60 inch - pounds of torque.

30 ft lbs is by definition, applying 30 lbs of pressure 1 foot away from the point of pivot (the bolt or nut for example)
30 inch pounds is exerting 30 lbs of pressure an inch away from the point of pivot... doesn't sound right, but it is...
So if you slap a 3 foot long extension (cheater) on a wrencg, you only have to exert 10 lbs of pressure on the pipe, 3 feet away from the pivot point to get 30 foot lbs...

Just curious then, where can I get an openbox wrench style torque wrench since Sears and OSH only have/had ratchet style? I can't use a ratchet since there is a HOSE coming out of each end of the bolts. On the stock hoses, the one end that came out of the left of the engine closest to the firewall HAD a bolt which allowed a rachet, but even that is gone with these new fittings.
Also, 300-360 inch lbs is 25-30 feet lbs which doesn't seem like very much. I was literally just barely able to remove these hoses and I am still working on the 2 connections which go into the Oil Cooler. When I grabbed an Oil Cooler from the junkyard I had to stand on it while pulling with both hands. Does that sound like 25-30 feet lbs of torque or is this just what happens over 17years of being connected?
Funny luck, I took the initiative to rebuild my slave and master clutch cylinders and when I got to the car, I started it up and all this Oil Cooler crap happened. It's been like a month now.

what you should do is go to your local parts place and buy a "Crow's Foot" in the size you need. It's a thing with an open end wrench head on one end, and a 3/8" or 1/2" or 3/4" drive rachet acceptor on the other... Changes your socket-drive torque wrench into an open end one... Work wonders.
