quieting down the Rotary..needed advice

quieting down the Rotary..needed advice

Not to long ago i put my header on my 85. In order to get it done that day i threw on a two chamber flowmaster, its ****** nice but its loud... it defintly has some brap. NE-ways i want another cheap way to quiet it down. im thinking a glasspack where the cat use to be. I could put another cheap muffler in there but that would just restrict it. let me know what you think and keep in mind i need it soon i dont really have the time to order a pre silencer or anything...Keep it grassroots style..

not to mention they will last about a day, the only way to REALLY quiet down a rotary is with a proper muffler. Racing beat... Or if you don't have that kind of money go for a magnaflow muffler, others have had good luck with them.

dammit, i love the sound it has now but ****, driving it on a military instalation isnt a good idea. almost everyone looks at it like wtf is that, a datsun, how fast is he going, SLOW DOWN!
its ridiculos i drive more conservativly than anyone here, atleast while im on post. i see people in stock Mustang Gt's and **** like that getting sideways all the time, they dont know what there doing cus they never hold it, they push the clutch in mid slide and it regrips.....why they get away with that is because there car is ***** quiet!
im pretty shure the glass pack will bring it down, ill try it and ill let you know. ill keep my eye out for a magna flow or something to throw it in the middle, i love my exuast looks right now to. ahah well thanks alot and more advice would be awesome!

get a magnaflow high flow cat or two mufflers, also i've ordered car chemistry exhaust inserts from summitracing.com. i'm going to give that a shot and see how it works, cause right now even with a magnaflow straight through and high flow cat its giving me headaches on long drives.

Glass packs that are true "glass" won't last because the matreial will melt with the heat of the rotary exhaust. You'll want to get a presilencer or resonator thats not glass but instead has a steel wool like filler. Does the same job but won't melt and will last. May cost a bit more tho.

Go with a racingbeat muffler. Sorry, it is the only way to get it quiet and have a lot of power. Or the stock muffler. MAYBE a good presilencer or 2, like stainles steel packed universal, or a RB presilencer. the RB presilencer quieted mine down A LOT. good luck.

You might try the Borla pre-silencer. It's all stainless, inside and out, with a straight though design. Worked very well on a friends TII. It may be the XR-1 model, but don't quote me on it.
